I’ve got a problem and hoping you can advice me. My son says that the tooth fairy told him if he doesn’t brush his teeth, he’ll get money faster. I’m at a loss. Have you encountered this before?

Sondra,
Pediatric dentists encounter things you wouldn’t believe, even if I told you. Regarding your issue with your son, you could tell your son that the tooth fairy is really great at giving treats for teeth, but she doesn’t understand dentistry.
Explain that if he doesn’t brush, he will get cavities and before he loses his teeth. He could also get painful tooth infections.
Another option is to tell him that healthy teeth get better treats than sick teeth.
I know one mom who showed her children images online of people who have lots of cavities. She said her children brushed twice a day without being told after that.
Some children like a sticker chart. They enjoy putting that sticker on so much that they feel brushing is worth it.
