My daughter needs a molar removed and now my dentist wants to add a space maintainer. I can’t even afford the extraction. Is the maintainer really necessary?

I know it is frustrating to add another expense, but in this case it is absolutely neccesary. Molars need to stay until around twelve years old. Otherwise her teeth will shift and crowd before her adult teeth can come in. What would just cost a little more money now, will cost you thousands to fix later.
Sometimes the most affordable dentistry is to spend a little money on prevention. That doesn’t mean you have to pay it all at once. Tell your dentist about your financial situation. There are ways to work around your situation.
