I have to make a lot of sacrifices to take my child to the dentist. It is too expensive to go as it is and now my pediatric dentist is insisting I get fluoride treatments as well for her. Is this really necessary?

Julienne,
I know it’s hard to take care of all the expenses that come with children. It shows how much you care that you’re willing to make the sacrifices necessary to care for them.
The fluoride treatments that your pediatric dentist is requesting you get will actually do two important things. First, it protects your daughters teeth. It can even reverse the beginning stages of tooth decay.
While I’m sure you use fluoride toothpaste, it isn’t as strong or effective of the treatments your dentist will give her. That fluoride will protect her teeth for months at a time.
